How it works

The basic principle of operation of the Agilent 5517C gas chromatograph is that the sample is vaporized in a vaporization chamber and the carrier gas carries the vaporized sample into the column. Because different compounds adsorb and desorb differently in the column, they flow out of the column at different velocities to the detector. The detector converts the compound into an electrical signal, which is amplified and recorded by a computer to produce a chromatogram.
